If you’ve been tuned in to the news the last few weeks, you’ve no doubt seen the topic of gun control rise to a fevered pitch. At first glance, it’s easy to say this is a natural reflex based on the latest mass shooting in Newtown, Connecticut. Such shootings, especially when children are involved, evocate the most basic emotions to protect the innocent. The resulting blowback to gun control by gun owners, however, is not a desire to lower security for others… not by a long shot.
So what is the psychology behind all the frenzy here in America? What is driving this?
It is important to stop for a minute and remember the context in which all of this is taking place.? We are at a low point in our economy with no recovery in sight. This breeds uncertainty… and in an uncertain environment, people become fearful.
And fearful people doing desperate things.
Think about it; today there is animosity across virtually all spectrums of society. You’ve seen it and probably experienced it yourself as well. The bottom line is, people from all demographics are running to get guns because THEY SEE NO FUTURE. Never before in the history of America have we been in this position.
And it’s not just the economy. We are faced with other odds as well: Our nation is experiencing a number of unprecedented changes, world opinion is largely against us and natural disasters are increasingly coming to our shores.
Hurricane Sandy for example. Imagine yourself living in Long Island when the storm hits. Your home is destroyed and your family is holed up in your garage. The government is NOWHERE to be found for days and even weeks. Don’t you think you would feel better if you are holding some form of firearm to protect your family A-B-S-O-L-U-T-E-L-Y.
Remember: THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS GOVERNMENT SECURITY.
Which brings us back to the current psyche of the American citizen: If we believe there is even a CHANCE of a crisis returning us to a not so civilized society… ask yourself – what was the one thing EVERY household had in the wild wild west?
ANSWER: Guns
If you believe government will always be looking out for your families best interest and provide the protection you want and need… THINK AGAIN. You’re delusional. Ever heard the stories out of New Orleans after Katrina or from the shores of Long Island after Sandy?
SurvivalistsPreppers.com was originally created to educate people and help them survive crisis scenarios. The number one item recommend for a survival kit used to be water. Water is now #2. Because of what is going on in the world today, a semi-automatic weapon is now the most import item in a survival kit.
Take that away and everything changes… for the worse.

The same people who jump on the gun craze are the same people who jump on the war craze. Whenever the government-who we elect-pumps of the propaganda. whenever I and others try to protect workers rights, environment, stop bank foreclose rs or anything else stand firmly behind the government or large corporations. These will be the same people who no matter how heavily armed do not have the mental stamina to survive a societal fall. Thier lives are controlled by fear and inability to act and stand up for themselves.
